Benefits Calendar – What to Expect

The following timeline is intended to give you a general idea of what you can expect during your first month of employment and describes when you need to enroll in your benefits.

  • Day 1—You begin work at Eaton. Wait for your personal data to be loaded into the Eaton Service Center at Fidelity systems before you enroll and review this website for more information.

  • On the first Friday after you begin work, your personal data are transferred to the Eaton Service Center at Fidelity.

  • The next Monday, your personal data are available at the Eaton Service Center at Fidelity. You may now enroll online via NetBenefits or by telephone.

    • Make your benefit elections as soon as possible. You will be automatically enrolled in certain default health and insurance benefits such as life insurance, disability insurance and EAP. You will not be defaulted into medical coverage; you must elect medical coverage if you wish to have it. You will have a 60-day enrollment period to make or change your own benefit elections. If you don’t make any elections during the enrollment period, you will only be covered by the limited default benefits through the end of the year.

    • If eligible, you can enroll in the Savings Plan at any time. The sooner you begin contributing to this plan, the sooner you will start building your retirement savings.

  • After 35 days, if you are not an employee covered by certain collective bargaining agreements and have not already made a Savings Plan contribution election, you will be automatically enrolled in the Savings Plan and payroll contributions will begin. You can "opt-out" or change the contribution percentage by contacting Fidelity. Deductions will begin as soon as administratively possible, generally up to two pay cycles, after enrollment. Remember to choose how your contributions to the Savings Plan will be invested. Use the tools and resources on NetBenefits to learn more. NOTE: Any contributions taken from your paycheck before an election to “opt-out” can be processed are subject to federal regulations and plan provisions on when they can be withdrawn from your Savings Plan account. Please carefully read the information about Savings Plan enrollment you will receive from the Eaton Service Center at Fidelity.

  • Within 60 days, you need to have made your health and insurance benefit elections. After the 60-day enrollment period you will NOT be able to make any changes during the year except within 31 days of certain changes in family status — such as marriage or birth of a child — and the changes you can make are VERY limited.
